Long lost friend

I found an old friend of mine from high school via Facebook. That social networking site has been truly a wonder to me. I’ve found so many people in there I didn’t know I have any hopes of ever getting in touch with again. I’ve seen old teachers and long forgotten classmates just because a friend of a friend is a friend of theirs and now we are friends there and are regularly keeping in touch.

That old friend of mine will be coming back to the country to visit his relatives here most likely by March. He already told me that he will be bringing an ereader canada with him as he saw how much I love reading. He also told me to organize a reunion with old classmates because he also wants to see them again.

Building a garage

We don’t have a garage at home. Instead of a garage, we have an area for a shed and a pocket garden. Since my sister has plans of buying a van this year, I told my dad and my brother that they should start working on a building a garage at the back of the house. Both guys said yes.

So now they gave me a list of stuff I need to get for them. I will be using Circuit City coupons on some of the stuff they need and the savings I will get from those purchases will be used to buy for snacks they will surely consume a lot of when they start working.

Perfect gift

The Olympia Motorcycle Gear is the perfect gift for my Kuya Eric. He is my dad’s younger cousin and has been a part of our lives for as long as I can remember. He drives a motorcycle so when my dad said we ought to buy a gift for his 40th birthday, I immediately thought of something related to motorcycles. The gear will be a perfect gift as he is planning on driving off somewhere the weekend of his birthday.

Some people has been in our lives for as long as we can go back in our memories. Those are the people we should appreciate more as they’ve seen as through the good and bad times.

Seeing a potential

My good friend Mika has a really good potential when it comes to engineering and interior design. She already knows how to use autocad and has really great ideas when it comes to interiors. I told her she better try and get an online engineering degree or something related to it. I saw a great deal of potential in her and I just know she can use the degree in the near future, especially as she is now starting a new life across the globe with her man.

I hope she finds a job as soon as possible so she can have enough money to take a degree in engineering or any degree she has an eye on.

Maroon tiles…

and a switch plate to match it. That’s what I have in mind right now. I am thinking of the maroon tiles that I want for the floor and the white walls. The switch plate will have to be maroon as well? Or will white do for it to blend with the wall color?

I need an expert’s advice! I think a fresh chat with my friend Shen is in need. She is an expert in these things. I can tell you now how great she is with interiors so whenever I am faced with a dilemma regarding interior design and layout, I turn to her for advice.

Temporary shelter

Mr. Valdes and his wife are homeless at the moment. They sold the house they’ve been living in for the past two decades because they are planning to go back to the province. All their kids are with their own families now so all they are on their own now. Temporarily, they will live in their motorhome as soon as the motorhome repair is done. They will begin their journey back to the province where they met after they make sure the motorhome will be safe for travel.

The motorhom will be their temporary shelter. Their old house will have to be repaired a bit and then cleaned before they can properly live in it. But even with all the hassle their move back to the province entails, the couple are excited to begin their country life once again.

One of the boys

I grew up with men: male cousins both younger and older, uncles and other close male relatives. In other words, I was one of the boys. I didn’t mind and I actually appreciate it now more than ever. I learned so much from them (basketball, bearings, cars and robots!) and it gave me the confidence girls my age didn’t have then. It was so easy for me to speak to boys because that’s what I did all the time back then!

When I was in my teens already, I spent less and less time with the boys. But the closeness with them and all the lessons I learned remained up until today.

Facebook

Facebook has become a big part of my life in 2011. I know for a fact that it will continue to be so no matter how I resolve to lessen my time in it. It just offers so much more than the usual email message, chat, text messages and calls. There’s so much interaction in it that makes you feel so much closer to people oceans away from you.

One thing I love about Facebook is its private messages (PMs). It is very much like emailing someone except that you see the thread of conversations and can add people as you go along. What I hate about PMs is that some people don’t know how to reply! A simple YES or NO would suffice but they will ignore your message completely! I hate people like that!

I do believe Facebook is here to stay. Until something better comes along, that is.

More special than usual

What do you give a career-oriented man? My suggestion: something that he can use for work. Something for his office or something he can wear. My choice: titanium accessories particularly cufflinks!

A friend of mine is throwing a birthday party for one of our friends who is now an executive for a BPO company. Of course, I will be attending the party. As I was thinking of a gift to give him, more special than usual as he turns the big 4-0, I thought of the cufflinks I saw online while browsing gift ideas for 40th birthday. Something he can use for work…

I hope he likes the gift and use it regularly.

I want a Kindle Fire!

amazon-kindle

I may be a huge fan of printed books but with the space problem at home, and some books only available in US bookstores, I am really considering getting an Amazon Kindle more and more. I want the Kindle Fire actually!

I have a list of books that I can’t find locally. I normally would have Fully Booked order it for me abroad and I will just pick it up from their store once it becomes available. But, again, with my space problems that is no longer an option for me. The Kindle will not only be convenient to bring with me anywhere I go but also a space saver, a solution to my ever growing book container problem.

I hope Santa is still listening/reading…
