Purchasing Ads in Entrecard

Wendy asked…

Sasha – have you done or would you consider doing a brief post about how to advertise using Entrecard? How do you find ones with good traffic? Just check for comments?

Personally, I purchase ads from blogs based on the following criteria:

  1. Do I like the blog (great content, organized theme)? Will I come back to visit some more?
  2. Is the widget located above the fold? Or at least in the middle where the droppers and the blog’s regular readers can see it easily?
  3. If I answered YES to both #1 and #2, I will then check if the blogger is a consistent dropper. I buy from those who are regular droppers. If the EC profile will say that the blogger is a ‘casual and relaxed dropper’ or ‘just here for the view’, then I won’t buy an ad.
  4. If the blogger is a regular dropper, I will then check the blog’s worth (EC credits to place an ad). Can I ‘afford’ it? If I have enough credits, I will purchase an ad right away.

How about you, how do you purchase an EC ad?

Same here. I like your number 2, from now on, I will also consider if the widget is on top or in the middle.

Many of the same criteria you have, I also look to see if I think that blog fits the same theme of my blog in a way.

I’ve posted yesterday an article same as yours here. Certainly, there is power in EC adverts. We also have the same criteria in choosing where to purchase an ad. We have to play our cards very well because it’s our hard-earned credits. Dropping cards everyday is not a walk in the park, so it’s just fitting if we spend it worth our while.

I look at blogs I go to when I drop and get a feel for them. Personally I love blogs in many catagories, but the middle or higher is a must for me. I want ads you can see!

I check the blog for relevancy, I check to see if they have ever dropped on me (this is for those who want to advertise on my blog also)
I definitely buy from blogs like mine and then I check to see if I got any clicks from that blog…I don’t just want dropper traffic I want their traffic. So if I don’t get any clicks from their blog to my blog I wont buy again. I am a casual dropper but my Traffic is interested in the ads I let buy from me.

oh position of the entre card is important I am advertising not just looking for droppers. I hate the ones way done on the bottom….never buy from and ill placed entrecard….no new traffic….why don’t folks treat this like a true advertising campaign?

My only real rule is that I have to like the blog. It should be a blog that will have readers who could come to my blog and find it at least ok too. I’m not going to buy a lot of ads in a blog about making money or using alternative fuel, etc. I run their ads in my EC widget (most of the time) but don’t pick them for myself.

I do care about where the widget is on the blog but I don’t 100% rule them out.

I don’t look at what kind of dropper they are. I am not a consistent dropper myself. I just have an hour or so and catch up on those in my inbox. I don’t know where that leaves me on the ratings. Likely I am up and down a lot.

personally, i choose blogs that gives a nice feeling the first time i visit it. if it feels nice to me and i can afford to advertise on it, i’ll advertise then. the position is not really as important for me. i had written a post before regarding the EC widget location, and i can understand the different view points of different people on where they place their widgets.

i also advertise again on blogs that earned me the most clicks from their visitors. it means effective advertisement and worthwhile EC credits. :)

I do the same thing usually. Sometimes I will spend time looking at newer e-card droppers and buy ads on new blogs. I am still grateful to the droppers that took a chance on me when I was new to e-card.
