I really don’t get it why some people would want their friends to reach hundreds and hundreds when I am pretty sure 3/4 of those people they don’t really know personally. Or does not have the inclination to even know personally.
Oops, I am referring to social networking sites like Facebook, Friendster and Myspace. (Sorry, manay!)
What do you think?
Something to think about this Monday morning. Have a great week everyone!

Yes, especially friendster. Some people can open until 20+ accounts in friendster. It’s the kind of popularity contest, I guess. I’ve been clearing my friend’s list from those strangers.

Ahi-hi-hi…no clear ka naman manay.
About sa mga friendster na ganyan manay. So far I only have two friends in my friendster. I don’t like friendster eh. Makikita kase jan ang mga offline and online friends. What I did, I created two accounts, isa sa online friends and one offline friends.
I think some members are trying to make their friends list as much as they can para mukhang sikat ba dahil marami silang friends. he-he-he.

You know, when I first started out on Facebork I just said yes to anyone that I had met at least once.
Now that I am a little more versed in the whole online social networking thing I do keep it to close friends.
I find it really hard when people add me that I really don’t want to see my every move on Facebook (like extended family etc).
Ohh well.

I usually only add close friends and I don’t even use myspace, that is too crowded for me with all those friend requests.

You know I have wondered about this myself. People have added me to their facebook friends list when we have zero in common and have barely ever spoken to each other. What is the point of that? I wouldn’t have coffee with them in the real world and therefore I don’t need them on my list.

I was floating around the net tonight thinking the same thing. I think people really don’t know what they want out of this blog-o-sphere life. I just blog for me and I read other blogs to help me grow. I love reading about others that share the same experiences, etc. Over the past week or so I have posted the very same issue…of why. I even posted a YouTube video that addresses this very issue. I do like the cartoon you have. I think I might have to steal it.
I really like your blog.

This very thing irritates the living s*** out of me. I simply don’t GET it. I understand adding people on bloglog and the sort, because I suppose it adds to your blog readership, or should anyway, but what ever function is there to have 2000 friends you never talk to on MySpace? Facebook even less, as it’s normally under your own name… Fortunately my FB has stayed pretty stranger free, even though I have people listed who I haven’t talked to in years, but are somehow important, like 1-6th grade class mates.
All I can think of is the popularity thing…

I know someone who just celebrated the fact that she just reached 100 friends on Facebook. She says her next goal is 2000 and all I could think is “why?” I don’t think I’ve even reached 30 yet, but most of them are people I knew before joining Facebook.

i’ve been pondering on these thoughts even before i started blogging. i have several friends who look like they’re on a race for some popularity contest. mine doesn’t even reach a hundred and i’ve had mine for years. i just don’t get the point of adding people you don’t personally know or is just a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend.
