Something to ponder on this weekend…
NOTE: This will not be a verbatim copy of the post written by Graham of Entrecard but rather a summary of what my take on his post regarding Entrecard’s updated Quality Standards.
Below are the rules with my personal note on some:
- No nudity – This should have been established from the onset. While the blogs I dropped on has no nudity, there are so many blogs containing women in various compromising positions. Some bloggers probably just shrug it off, it is really quite offensive. I even stopped dropping on this blog that has a woman who peed on her pants.
- English only
- Minimum 5 posts – Ah yes. So many blogs that contain one post only that is obviously created just to become an EC credit hoarder.
- Content must be original
- No full-screen ads – While I am not against these ads, it is unfair to those droppers with slow internet connection.
- No illegal file downloads
- Entrecard widget must be present – This is the one that irritates me the most… droppers’ blogs without an EC widget. Even if I have a DSL connection, loading several sites at a time slows it down. It still takes time. And to find out that the blog you loaded has no widget… grrr
- No redirects
- No duplicate accounts
- URLs must be valid
- No autoplaying audio – The one problem of so many bloggers, at times even I have issues about… Imagine loading 10-15 blogs at the same time. And then a sound blaring out of nowhere! You don’t even know where it is coming from because almost all the blogs are halfway through loading. Good thing I often mute my laptop volume when I am dropping cards.
- Content must be recent
And then there is an additional note about blogs created for the sole purpose of making money. They are now cracking down on these blogs.
I know a lot of the droppers are having mixed reactions toward these updated rules. Some would probably think that why only now, when they have been dropping religiously from the very beginning, even promoting Entrecard? I know A LOT of bloggers are skipping and jumping with glee over rule number 11. But what about the other rules?
Let me know what you think about these updated rules.
Happy weekend!

I like the new(ish) rules. Although they really need to be enforced.
Also, it would be nice if Entrecard was able to spider blogs and auto-delete the many dead links and canceled blogger accounts.

I like the rules especially the video/music thing and the no widget rule.

all the rules are great and fair…what i really don’t like is the effectiveness of the rules. How they implement the rules? i helped by reporting non-english sites and they are many of them and i see Ben and the rest of the guys are so active of responding reports but it is not enough i think they have to create a group to police if not make it a little bet more tougher when it comes of accepting sites.
