My friend got promoted after attending the sales training his company required of him. He was hesitant to comply at first, thinking it was a sign of the global financial crisis striking their company. You know, get a training, but pass it or not, they will tell you that you will be temporarily laid off work due to the crisis. But it was not like that. It turned out to be a legitimate request so as to complete his qualification for the position opened up for him. Lucky guy!
