I know that theme/template authors need funding for them to continue offering free WordPress themes and Blogger templates. That’s the reason why we see a link or two, sometimes more, at the footer of free themes/templates that we view and download.
BUT if you don’t know it yet, those footer links are detrimental to your blog’s page ranking! Except for the WordPress.org and the theme author’s link, the other links could be the reason why your PR was suddenly snatched from you. Or will be snatched from you soon.
If you are using a free WordPress theme or Blogger template, check your footer. If you see links there that are unrelated to your blog or to the theme author’s site, then consider using another theme/template. You don’t want Goog penalizing your site for those links.
