More special than usual

What do you give a career-oriented man? My suggestion: something that he can use for work. Something for his office or something he can wear. My choice: titanium accessories particularly cufflinks!

A friend of mine is throwing a birthday party for one of our friends who is now an executive for a BPO company. Of course, I will be attending the party. As I was thinking of a gift to give him, more special than usual as he turns the big 4-0, I thought of the cufflinks I saw online while browsing gift ideas for 40th birthday. Something he can use for work…

I hope he likes the gift and use it regularly.

I want a Kindle Fire!

amazon-kindle

I may be a huge fan of printed books but with the space problem at home, and some books only available in US bookstores, I am really considering getting an Amazon Kindle more and more. I want the Kindle Fire actually!

I have a list of books that I can’t find locally. I normally would have Fully Booked order it for me abroad and I will just pick it up from their store once it becomes available. But, again, with my space problems that is no longer an option for me. The Kindle will not only be convenient to bring with me anywhere I go but also a space saver, a solution to my ever growing book container problem.

I hope Santa is still listening/reading…

A job related to her degree

Stephanie is looking for Convention Services/Events Staff Jobs right now. She finished a degree in Mass Communication and she wants a job where she can really practice what she learned in university.

She loves being in an events team so that’s what she is targeting. She is good in organization and planning. She is very outgoing and friendly so she can use that in dealing with people. She really knows her craft and I do hope she will be able to find a job where she can enjoy and not feel like working at all.

A green life

I am inspired by our neighbors who are all trying to live a green life. Planting their own veggies, backyard chicken coops for their fresh eggs and chicken meat, and basically trying to make the planet a better place for all of us to live in. Meanwhile, I am still living the same unhealthy life I’ve been living since my teens.

I will try to live a better life from now on. It may not be as great an impact as what the neighbors are doing but it will be in my own way.

Hmm… how to go about it?

2011 Most Popular Holiday Toy

LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer Learning Tablet

There was the holiday demand for Cabbage Patch Kid. Then, there’s Tickle Me Elmo. This year the most popular holiday toy is the LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer Learning Tablet! Statistics says that 14% of Americans are planning to give this toy to their kids. Stocks in stores are running out fast and since the demand is really high, online vendors are said to be jacking up the price. Original price is around $99. But because of the demand, vendors on eBay are charging upwards of $190 for the plastic gadget.

Crazy, don’t you think?

Are you planning to get this toy gadget for your kid this Christmas? Bought it yet?

For her comfort

My friend’s husband bought her a memory foam mattress for her comfort. She is finding it hard to sleep comfortably because of her back problems. Her doctor said that a better mattress will help her condition so when her husband heard of it, he immediately ordered one for her.

Not all husbands are as attentive as my friend’s husband is. That’s why we really tell her that she is lucky to have found him. Most married women are complaining about their husbands and my friend is always all smiles when it comes to hers.

Lucky woman!

A definite plan

Uncle Rey has a definite plan for the first couple of weeks of 2012. He will save up and buy gold coins as an investment. He has always wanted to have an investment that he can be proud of and the gold coins is just one kind of investment that he intends to save up and spend on.

Uncle Rey has four kids that are all grown up now. He and his wife separated a decade ago and he knows that to be able to grow old comfortably, he has to invest his money wisely and save up for his future alone.

Gadget of my dreams

If there is one gadget that I am dreaming to have this Christmas, it would be an electronic book reader. Yes, an e-book reader! Simple wish, no? I want a kobo ebooks reader for myself. I love buying printed books but I cannot deny the fact that carrying an ebook reader is much more convenient than carrying a printed copy around. Can you imagine carrying a dozen or so books in your bag? I don’t think that would be easy! But with an ebook reader, you can carry more than that.

I hope someone gets me an ebook reader for Christmas.

Anyone?

Cookies!

Just something to make us laugh…

Cookies

Funny, isn’t it?! Ha! Ha! Ha!

I do hope those who celebrated Thanksgiving had a grand time. Still full over that turkey? And to those who went for Black Friday, I hope you arrived home in one piece and unharmed. What items did you get?

Happy weekend everyone!

Google before you tweet!

Google-Tweet

In the past the advice that elders would give us is “Think before you speak.” so that only good words will come out of our mouths. It is an advice especially directed to those who are tactless.

These days, the sage advice is changed to: “Google before you tweet.” We all know how almost everyone has a Twitter account nowadays. Some people tend to tweet whatever that comes to mind even those which will cause a scandal or a ruckus among their followers. Case in point, Ashton Kutcher‘s tweet about Joe Paterno. He didn’t know what the issue was but he just tweeted, managing to put his foot in his mouth by doing so. Can you imagine how someone with an 8 million followers in Twitter can be so irresponsible? Of course, he retracted/deleted his tweet right away and run for cover when he got a barrage of hate tweets directed at him. For those who don’t know yet, Joe Paterno was fired as Penn State coach after a child sex abuse scandal plagued him. The idiot Kutcher who goes by the Twitter name @Aplusk actually thought the coach was fired due to aging. See how “Google before you tweet” could have benefited the guy had he used it?

For those of you who have Twitter accounts, make sure to practice this sage advice.
